FYI

GEL POLISHES

There are alot new gel polishes on the market, but Shellac remains the leader in gel polishes.  One of the major differences between Shellac and the other gel polishes that the public should be aware of, is the scratching of the nail bed.  Most of the other brands of gel polish require that the nail plate be filed, which creates small holes in the nail plate which makes it possible for any product to adhere.  This procedure damages the nail plate by taking off small layers of the the nail plate, making your natural nails thinner.   Shellac is the only gel polishes that does not require this filing of the natural nail, thus preserving your natural nails.

One of the other significant differences is in the removal of the product.  Most gel polishes are removed by the use of acetone.  When removing Shellac you do use acetone, but the major difference is that it usually takes 3-5 minutes.  All the other gel polishes require approximately 15-20 minutes in acetone to break the product down.  Lets be honest, acetone strips paint off of walls, it is a very strong product that can be very drying to the nail bed and cuticle.  Less time means less damage.  It is about preserving your natural nails, the cuticle and the other skin surrounding your nails.

Although the other products may have more color choices, File-n-Style chose Shellac as the best product available to maintain the integrity of our clients and their nails.  Shellac is constantly releasing new colors, and mixing colors to come up with other colors has been a great option.
